No Religious Test Required To Qualify For Public Office

I received an e-mail today about religious symbols on the 2009 White House Christmas Tree ornaments and an allegation that the Christmas Tree was to be called a Holiday Tree. According to Urban Legends, the e-mail in question, which has been circulating since July 2009, is false. But that’s not what I wish to focus on now. Rather, I want to focus on a person’s religious affiliation and running for public office. You may ask, “Why? Isn’t the focus of the e-mail Christmas trees and ornaments?” Well, yes, it is. But, in the particular e-mail I received, the following was at the bottom of the e-mail:

Unfortunately, I am a bit out of commission right now for posting and the Blog Talk Radio show.
